Case Study - UPS - Kentish Town

UPSWhen major parcel carrier UPS needed to refurbish the cladding at their depot at Kentish Town, Kettles were aware that this presented numerous challenges. Firstly, the depot operates a 24/7 shift system, Secondly, no permanent fixed scaffolding was allowed on site, and Thirdly, local weather conditions during the project were the worst on record!

To overcome the scaffolding situation, MEWP’s (Mobile Elevated Working Platforms) were deployed on site, this allowed unhindered access for the movements of dozens of commercial vehicles to the site’s 40 loading bays.

Had it not been for the adverse weather conditions (Snow, Hail & Sleet) Kettles would have completed the works within the contract period (as acknowledged by UPS) but despite this, Kettles did finish on time & on budget – well done Team Kettles!

Did You Know?

The largest municipal building in Kentish Town is the St Pancras public baths, opened in 1900, designed by T.W. Aldwinckle. The large complex originally had separate first and second class men's baths and a women's baths, along with a public hall. Little of the interior remains intact. One of London's most famous nudist public baths, Rio's, is in Kentish Town.
