Kettles were recently asked by Alstom Transport to refurbish the entire floor of an old “Watering” Shed (circa 1940’s), that was being upgraded to a high performance Technological Workshop, as part of a major investment by an acknowledged world leader in Railway Equipment & Services.
Again, a task with several challenges: firstly, the floor had numerous uneven levels throughout the entire footprint, secondly, various types of sub-floor were present, and thirdly, the arrival and installation of new equipment meant working to tight schedules.
Once the correct preparation was completed, Kettles overcame the unevenness of the floor by means of a pumped-polymer screed, (laid in sections) that, when cured, was prepared by shot blasting, then an epoxy coating incorporating an anti-slip finish was deploying overall.
The finished floor delivered everything that was required of it, making the H2 Workshop a safer environment for all who work on the floor.
